Hyderabad: Students appearing for the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) 2022 will be allotted ranks purely based on their performance in the entrance test. The 25 per cent weightage for intermediate marks for calculating TS EAMCET ranks has been waived off for this year.

Earlier, TS EAMCET ranks were calculated taking into account 25 per cent weightage of marks secured in the intermediate public examinations. Given the pandemic situation, the weightage has been waived off as a special case for admissions into various engineering, agriculture and pharmacy programmes for the academic year 2022-23. This provision was extended to students last year as well due to the pandemic.

This apart, the minimum eligibility criteria i.e., at least 45 per cent of marks (40 per cent for candidates belonging to reserved category) in the intermediate has been relaxed for the EAMCET 2022. This means students who passed MPC or BiPC courses with specified subjects and qualified the entrance test are eligible to take admissions in relevant courses for the academic year 2022-23.

The intermediate eligibility criterion was relaxed as all second-year students were passed considering their first-year scores and second-year students who had backlogs in the first year were given minimum qualifying marks in 2021 as exams could not be held due to the pandemic. Likewise, as second-year students registered low pass percentage in the first-year exams held during 2021-22, the State government had awarded minimum qualifying marks to all failed candidates.

As announced earlier, the TS EAMCET 2022 will be conducted covering only 70 per cent of the total syllabus in both first and second year intermediate.

This year, the entrance test will be held from July 14 to 20 with AM stream scheduled for July 14 and 15 and tests for engineering on July 18, 19 and 20. Online registration has commenced on the website https://eamcet.tsche.ac.in/ and the last date to register without a late fee is May 28.
