Kamareddy: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy on Sunday said the State government was committed to making farmers self-reliant and efforts were on to strengthen the agriculture sector in the State by introducing several welfare schemes.
The Minister was addressing a public meeting at Bichkunda mandal headquarters after visiting Jukkal Assembly constituency where he inaugurated the newly built Rythu Vedikas at Chinna Kodapgal, Pedda Kodapgal and Madnoor mandal headquarters. The public meeting was also attended by Jukkal MLA Hanumanthu Shinde and Zaheerabad MP B B Patil.
Niranjan Reddy said, though India was primarily an agricultural economy, farmers were facing problems due to lack of support. Keeping this in mind, the Telangana government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had introduced schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima, and had waived agriculture loans.
The Minister said that Rythu Samanwaya Samithis and Rythu Vedikas were set up to discuss farmers’ problems and arrive at solutions.
Kamareddy ZP chairman D Shobha Raju and local public representatives were also present at the public meeting.
