Warangal Urban: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said on Thursday that the State government was sympathetic towards the ‘fields assistants’ working under the NREGS. “The State government achieved several awards due to hard work of MGNREGA employees. The government is now working on ways to utilise the services of field assistants,” he said.

Addressing a get-together of employees of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) here on Thursday, he said, “It is sad that the field assistants are not with us at this meeting. However, the State government is weighing up on the request of the field assistants to allow them to work.  On the other hand, the employees of NREGS are doing a good job. Even the Chief Minister is aware of this thing,”

Referring to the request of the employee union leaders about the promotions, pay hike, merger of the NREGS employees with the Panchayat Raj Department, and job security, Rao said that he would sit and discuss these demands with the union leaders. He, however, added that he could not make any statement on these demands as the election code was in force.

Alleging that the BJP MPs from the State were resorting to nonsensical comments against the TRS government, Rao alleged that the Centre was not extending its support to the Telangana government, and asked the participants to vote for TRS MLC candidates Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Surabhi Vani Devi.

State Planning Commission Vice-Chairperson Boinpally Vinod Kumar, Employees Union leaders Paritala Subba Rao, Karam Ravinder Reddy, Mohan Rao and others spoke at the meeting and urged the NREGS employees to ensure victory of Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Surabhi Vani Devi.
