Hyderabad: Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Mareddy Srinivas Reddy directed the officials to take measures to overcome the challenges faced in handing over the Custom Milling Rice (CMR) to the Food Corporation of India (FCI). He said the longer the delay in handing over the CMR, the greater the financial burden on the Corporation and hence, asked the authorities to act proactively.

Srinivas Reddy on Monday conducted a review meeting on CMR for Yasangi 2019-20 and Vaanakalam 2020-21 with District Managers at the Civil Supplies Corporation office here. He said while the FCI was partly responsible for the non-receipt of rice from rice millers within the stipulated time of two seasons, the callousness of some Civil Supplies Officers was another reason. He said that due to the FCI Primary Verification (PV), milling has come to a standstill and steps should be taken to coordinate with the FCI and complete the PV at the earliest to resume milling.

“We must hand over 10 lakh tonnes of CMR every month, to achieve the targets before the deadline. A special action plan should be prepared in this regard,” he said. He wanted the officials to conduct PV in all the mandal-level godowns of the Corporation every month to update the accounts pertaining to gunny bags, paddy and rice. They were instructed to take measures to curb recycling and blackmarketing of PDS rice, apart from ensuring that CCTV cameras are fully operational in all the warehouses. He warned stringent action if the rice is transported in vehicles without GPS.

The Corporation employees appealed to the chairman to provide pension facility to regular employees along with group medical insurance facility. Gopi Krishna, president of the employees association, said the chairman had responded positively.

Civil Supplies commissioner Anil Kumar and other senior officials attended the meeting.
