Khammam: The TSRTC’s Parcel, Cargo and Courier (PCC) Services have been gaining public patronage and have earned revenue of Rs 46 crore since launch of the service on June 19 last year.

The idea of introducing the services by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) was conceived by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to boost the revenues of the corporation.

“It is very heartening to see the initiative witnessing success in a short span of time because of its cost-effectiveness in comparison to other courier services and speedy delivery of goods,” Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar said.

Buoyed by the success of the parcel, cargo and courier services, the RTC authorities are now planning to expand its home delivery services. At present, home delivery services are available in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

It is planned to introduce home delivery services involving private agents in all district headquarters and major towns in the next 10 days for which an action plan is being readied, Ajay Kumar told Telangana Today on Friday.

Since the launch of the services, as many as 32 lakh parcels have been delivered through RTC services and earned Rs 34 crore. A revenue of Rs 12 crore was earned through cargo buses, the Minister informed.

At present, there are 177 counters at RTC bus stations. In addition, there is a service network of 810 agents. A fleet of 150 cargo buses with 10 tonnes and 4 tonnes capacity is being maintained for cargo delivery.

Taking the cargo services to farmers in rural areas in the State, around 5,000 tonnes of paddy has also been transported in this agriculture season.

Government departments such as TS Foods, Horticulture, Board of Intermediate Education, TS Textbooks, Trade Promotion Corporation, Health Department and other private companies such as Heritage, Divya Pharmaceuticals, Swamy and Sons and others are using RTC services, Ajay Kumar informed.

“For the TSRTC, the drivers and conductors are the real driving force. The credit for the success of RTC cargo and parcel services goes to all the employees, executive directors, agents, marketing executives who made collective efforts to make the initiative a success,” he noted.

The Minister specially thanked TSRTC Managing Director Sunil Sharma and PCC Services Special Officer N Krishnakanth who offered valuable guidance to steer the services towards success.

Meanwhile, the PCC Services Special Officer Krishnakanth informed that the ‘First Mile and Last Mile Cargo Bus Feeder Service’ (BFS) to connect the GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo Terminal to other parts of Telangana and neighbouring States would be launched in July.

It might be noted that GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC), a division of GMR Air Cargo & Aerospace Engineering Limited (GACAEL) , has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the TSRTC in last November.

The PCC services which earned Rs 15,000 on June 19, when it was launched, is now registering a daily revenue of Rs 12 lakh with delivery of 10,000 to 11,000 parcels. “Before lockdown, we used to have a business of Rs 16 to 17 lakh per day with daily delivery of 14,000 parcels,” Krishnakanth said.
