Karimnagar: TSRTC, Karimnagar region, has decided to open a petrol bunk near RTC workshop in Karimangar town. For this purpose, it has allocated 10,000 square feet of land in the RTC workshop that is spread over 50 acres.

TSRTC, which leased the land to Hindustan Petroleum Company for a period of 30 years, entered into an agreement with HP to establish a petrol bunk at the proposed site. Works of the petrol bunk have already started besides RTC dispensary and the bunk will be ready by the end of March 2022.

The Corporation, which is reeling under severe financial stress, has been looking at alternative avenues to generate revenue. Besides leasing its lands for commercial purposes, it is also running petrol bunks on its lands in different depots across the state.

The bunks are being operated in Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Asifabad, Banswada, Kushaiguda, Hakimpet and other depots in Hyderabad.

Speaking to Telangana Today, A Sridhar, Regional Manager, Karimnagar region, said they leased the land to HP for a period of 30 years to establish a petrol bunk. Stating that RTC itself would in all probability operate the bunk, he said higher officials will take a decision about operation of bunk and others.

There were also proposals to establish more petrol bunks in Peddapalli, Jagitial, Korutla and Metpalli. Proposals have also been sent to lease corporation lands for commercial operations such as construction of multiplex, function halls, showrooms and other commercial buildings, he said.
