In a political setback for the Congress ahead of municipal elections, six councillors from Banswada joined the BRS in Hyderabad on Tuesday. BRS working president KT Rama Rao welcomed them into the party.

BRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, now aligned with Congress, admitted to winning on the BRS symbol and pledged to abide by the Speaker’s decision on his defection. Addressing party workers in Banswada, he defended his move citing developmental goals and denied any personal gain, even offering to resign if proven otherwise. The Speaker is set to resume hearings on Friday.

With these appointments, a total of 139 agricultural market committees across the state now have new governing bodies.

The victim has been identified as Gopal (55), a beedi agent.

The BRS working president said the Congress government which promised to bring change in governance, had failed to deliver its promises due to inefficient administration.

The victims were Mahaboob Khureshi, Feroz Khureshi, Rafiq Khureshi, Firoz Khureshi and Majid Patel.

Speaking to news reporters after BRS Zaheerabad candidate Gali Anil Kumar filed his nomination on Saturday, he said the BRS exactly knew what Telangana needed.

The dairy farmers have been requesting the management of the Vijaya Dairy to release the pending bills since the last three months, but it has been postponing it on one or the other grounds.

He said both the Congress and the BJP had failed to fulfil their promises to the people of the State, while the BRS proved its commitment for welfare of its people repeatedly.

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy submitted his nomination papers and spoke to reporters later, saying that he has been working tirelessly for the people since 1994, which is why he has won every election except one since then.
