Hyderabad: Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) is equipping itself with the latest technology to render quality services to its consumers, according to TSSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director G Raghuma Reddy here on Thursday.
The TSSPDCL has already introduced various initiatives to enable consumers to carry out various transactions online. With the help of its app, consumers were not only able to pay their bills but also lodge complaints pertaining to power disruptions.
The consumers were also applying for new electrical connections, he said adding it was on November 20, 2014, the TSSPDCL covering 15 districts started supplying uninterrupted power. Explaining the power supply situation to consumers, Reddy said at the time of formation of Telangana in 2014, there was load shedding, which ranged between four and eight hours of load relief to various categories of consumers. It also included a day power holiday to industries in the State. On the day of the formation of Telangana, the peak-demand shortage was 2,700 MW. After Telangana was carved out, the TSSPDCL has been able to meet the demand.
Nine hours of power supply was extended to the agriculture sector from April 1, 2016, for which the TSSPDCL has strengthened the distribution system by expanding and modernising the network infrastructure. From January 1, 2018, Telangana became the only State in the country to extend 24X7 power supply to the agricultural sector. Referring to power supply to the industrial sector, Reddy said 33/11 KV sub-stations were established in Chandanpally, Fab City and Pharma City to cater to the needs of the industrial sector after Amazon established its international data centre in the city.
“We are prepared to meet the requirements of the industrial sector even if more number of companies set up their centres in the city,” he said. The TSSPDCL was one of the best performing discoms in the country in terms of operational efficiency.
