Hyderabad: Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) will launch Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Design and Technology course at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Degree College for Women, Sircilla, affiliated to Satavahana University (SU) from the academic year 2022-23.

The B. Des course will be offered in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad, which will be extending its expertise in designing the course curriculum in association with the university teachers. The NIFT will also assist the college in recruiting required faculty.

The course will have 40 seats. Students who passed intermediate are eligible to take admission which will be based on an entrance test conducted by the TSWREIS.

On Saturday, a meeting was conducted at the Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) here to discuss the course modalities.

TSCHE Chairman, Prof. R Limbadri appreciated the TSWREIS and SU for taking the initiative to introduce the B.Des course in Sircilla district which is the textile capital of Telangana.

SU Vice Chancellor, Prof. S Mallesham also appreciated the NIFT-Hyderabad officials for coming forward to collaborate on the project. He assured that the university would extend complete support for the successful implementation of the course.

Prof. Annaji Sharma and Prof. Avinash from NIFT, Dr Praveen Mamidala, Joint Secretary Higher Education, TSWREIS and ASN Pavani, OSD Academics from TSWREIS took part in the meeting.
