Hyderabad: Official memos have been served to 11 managers working in HMWSSB, after a review found they resolved complaints without visiting consumers’ premises, according to the managing director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), K Ashok Reddy.
A few days ago, Telangana Today carried a report titled ‘Hyderabad consumers irked as water board closes complaints without resolution’ on June 27, after a few consumers had complained.
In a press release on Friday, Ashok Reddy said officials must act with full responsibility at the field level while resolving public complaints related to drinking water supply and sewerage management in areas under the jurisdiction of HMWSSB.
“A recent review found that 11 managers had marked complaints online as resolved without completely resolving them at the field level, and this action is not only misleading the public but also damaging the credibility of the complaint redressal system, he said.
Based on the findings, charge memos were issued to 11 managers who showed negligence while discharging their duties. He said he would not tolerate actions that violated departmental procedures, the press release said.
Ashok Reddy warned that if complaints were found to have been marked as resolved without fully resolving the issue at the field level, departmental disciplinary action would be taken against the concerned officials.
He said it was the responsibility of every officer and employee to provide quality services to the public, implement a transparent complaint redressal system, and further strengthen public confidence in the Hyderabad Water Board.
