TVK’s Srinath defeats Minister Geetha Jeevan in Thoothukkudi

Tamil Nadu Minister P Geetha Jeeva lost the Thoothukkudi Assembly seat to TVK candidate Srinath by 37,731 votes. Despite past wins in 2016 and 2021, she was defeated after a strong surge by TVK in the constituency

Thoothukkudi (Tamil Nadu): Tamil Nadu Minister for social welfare and women empowerment P Geetha Jeevan lost to TVK candidate Srinath in Thoothukkudi assembly constituency by a margin of 37,731 votes. Srinath polled 1,00,536 votes while Geetha Jeevan secured 62,805.

Geetha Jeevan previously won the Thoothukkudi seat in the 2016 and 2021 assembly elections. She has also served as a member and chairperson of Thoothukudi district panchayat from 1996 to 2006.
The TN assembly election was held on April 23.
