Hyderabad: Twitter India is looking to hire a Resident Grievance Officer to ‘oversee the grievance redressal mechanism of complaints from the people who use its service in India’. This comes after the social networking had hired an interim officer in June – who had resigned – and had hired another India-based grievance officer about two weeks ago.

The grievance officer is part of the requirement of the new IT rules formulated by the Centre and Twitter had got embroiled in a controversy for the same.

According to the job listing by Twitter on LinkedIn, it is a full-time role located in India and the officer must be a resident of India.

“This role is part of the Legal team within Twitter Inc., and will report to the company’s headquarters located in San Francisco, CA. You will collaborate closely with colleagues from allied teams (including Legal and Trust & Safety), providing your own subject-matter expertise, and seeking the expertise of others when needed.

You must therefore be comfortable collaborating with colleagues from a wide variety of teams and backgrounds, and managing internal and external stakeholders effectively, all while advocating vigorously for Twitter and our users in India. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with prior experience interfacing with the public or government officials on issues of national importance,” the listing said.

The company also posted that the officer must be familiar with the legal system in India and must be aware of rights and laws of account holders of online platforms.
