Hyderabad: Millennials now represent 55 per cent of India’s C-Suite, making them the largest generational cohort among senior executives in India. This has been revealed in LinkedIn’s latest platform data, from which millennial representation in India’s C-Suite has grown 14.5 per cent over the last seven years, reflecting a broader shift in India’s leadership market.
The data shows that single-industry experience among India’s C-Suite leaders has dropped from around 80 per cent to 58 per cent, pointing to a leadership market where exposure across companies, functions and business contexts matters more.
Further, the new LinkedIn research finds that AI is adding urgency to this shift, with 84 per cent of Indian C-Suite leaders saying it is creating new roles in their organisation, a sentiment felt most strongly by CMOs (94 per cent).
Leaders are also using AI more directly in decision-making, with 84 per cent saying inputs from AI tools are now a key step. LinkedIn India Country Manager and VP LSS Product Kumaresh Pattabiraman said India’s C-suite is entering a more demanding phase of leadership.
Nearly 4 in 5 Indian C-Suite leaders say they are under pressure to move faster on AI than they can effectively measure its impact. This pressure is highest among CMOs (82 per cent) and CTOs (81 percent), reflecting how AI is rapidly changing customer engagement and technology adoption.
