Two arrested for kidnap, rape and murder of minor in Telangana
Two men from Mancherial district were arrested for kidnapping, raping and murdering a girl. Police said the accused confessed during interrogation. Senior police officials appreciated the swift investigation that led to cracking the case

Mancherial: Two persons were arrested for allegedly murdering a minor girl after kidnapping and raping her at Dandepalli mandal on November 27. They were produced before the media here on Monday.
Mancherial ACP Rathnapuram Prakash said that Shanigarapu Bapu (50) and Uparapu Sathish alias Satthaiah (40), both from Nambala, were apprehended for involvement in the kidnap, rape and murder of the girl. They were detained while trying to flee after the body of the girl was found in a well.
During interrogations, Bapu and Sathish reportedly confessed to committing the offence. They allegedly admitted to murdering the girl by dumping her in a well after raping her in a cotton field when she was playing alone near her house. Bapu was living lonely after the death of his wife six years ago, while Sathish was divorced three years ago.
Meanwhile, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Amber Kishore Jha and Mancherial DCP A Bhaskar commended Prakash, Luxettipet Inspector Ramanamurthy, Dandepalli SI and his counterpart from Luxettipet Suresh for cracking the case.
Tailor arrested with 1.25 kg ganja in Falaknuma
Hyderabad: The Falaknuma police on Monday arrested a tailor for allegedly possessing ganja and seized 1.25 kilogrammes of ganja from him.
Acting on a tip off, the Falaknuma police led by Inspector A. Seethaiah, raided the house of one Shaik Imran, (24) located at Fatimanagar, in Falaknuma.
“Imran had concealed a bag containing ganja in the washroom of his house. We have seized it and a case is registered against him,” said the Inspector.
On questionning, Imran told the police that one person Jahangir had given him to ganja and asked him to keep it. “Efforts are on to nab Jahangir,” the Inspector added.
Inter student dies by suicide at Bachupally residential college
Hyderabad: A first-year-intermediate student died by suicide at a private residential junior college at Bachupally on Monday.
According to reports, the girl pursuing first year MPC in the Sri Chaitanya Residential College was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room by her roommates. They alerted the warden, who then alerted the police.
Responding to the information, the police came to the college and shifted the body for postmortem examination to mortuary.
Police registered a case and are trying to ascertain the reasons.
55-year-old man found murdered on Osmania University campus
Hyderabad: A 55-year-old man was found murdered at Osmania University in the city on Monday.
The man Mangu Singh (55), a resident of Mangalhat, went out for work on Monday morning from his house. In the evening his body was found in a pool of blood at an isolated place in the Osmania University.
The police suspect some persons might have killed the man by slitting his throat. A case is registered.
Engineering student dies by suicide on OU campus
Hyderabad: An engineering second-year student died by suicide at Osmania University campus on Monday.
The man Vignesh, a native of Huzurabad, was pursuing engineering second year course at the engineering college and stayed in the campus.
On Monday, he was found hanging from a tree by the students.
On being alerted the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to mortuary for postmortem examination.
The police beefed up security across the campus following the incident.
Two friends die by suicide at house in Kothur
Hyderabad: Two friends are suspected to have died by suicide at their house in Kothur mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Monday.
According to the police, Anamika Dutt (20) stayed along with her father and younger sister at a house in Kothur. Her father is a truck driver, while she along with her younger sister worked at a biscuit factory in Kothur.
On Monday afternoon, Anamika and her friend Dhanunjaya Phani (25) were found hanging from the ceiling in the house of Anamika. “We suspect both might have ended their life after discussing some issues involving them. The case is being investigated,” said Kothur Inspector P Saiyyanna.
On information, the police reached the house and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination to local government hospital. The police are gathering information about the relationship between Dhanunjaya and Anamika from their friends and relatives.
