Nalgonda: Nalgonda Rural police arrested the two accused in the case of rape and murder of a 54-year-old woman at Mushampally village in the district within 24 hours of the incident.
Presenting the accused before the media at Nalgonda Rural police station, Deputy Superintendent of Police Venkateshwar Reddy said police arrested Erpucherla Pullaiah and Bakkathatla Lingaiah at the village within a few hours of the incident. The arrested persons, who have a criminal track record, confessed to their crime, he added.
The victim was returning home after buying groceries from a shop in the village on Wednesday when Lingaiah and Pullaiah accosted her. The street was deserted since it was raining heavily at that time. She could also not shout loudly for help as she was suffering from a throat infection. The two forced their way into her house and committed the crime.
