Hanamkonda: Two teenagers drowned in the SRSP’s Kakatiya canal near Elkaturthy village near here on Monday. The deceased were Ambala Varun, and his cousin Elthury Vamshi. Relatives said that the duo had gone to attend nature’s call and slipped into the canal. Though Varun’s uncle reportedly tried to rescue them, they got washed away due to strong current of the water in the main canal which is abutting the SC colony of Elkathurthy village.
While Varun, son of Ramesh, was from Elkathurthy village’s SC colony, Vamshi, son of Ramu of Kazipet, came to Ambala Ramesh’s house four days ago as Vamshi was Ramesh’s sister’s son. Relatives said that Vamshi’s father Ramu died of Covid-19 one year ago. The bodies have been fished out from the canal in the afternoon. A pall of gloom descended on the SC colony with the untimely death of two teenagers.
