Peddapalli: Two farmers were mowed down by a sand lorry near Bittupalli of Manthani mandal on Sunday morning.
According to police, Dharmulla Rajamallu (52) and Chiluveru Gattaiah (50), residents of Bittupalli, were on their way to their agricultural fields to harvest the paddy crop in the morning at the time of the accident.
The driver of lorry, which was on its way to the sand quarry located near Khammampalli of Mutharam mandal, lost control over the vehicle and hit the deceased at Bittupalli turning point. While Gattaiah died on the spot, Rajamallu breathed his last en route to Manthani hospital. Enraged over the incident, villagers staged a protest at Manthani main road demanding justice for the deceased.On being informed, police visited the spot and began investigation after registering the case.
