Two groups clash at Jubilee Hills pub, police book both sides

Two groups clashed at a Jubilee Hills pub around 2 am on Sunday, triggering panic among customers and damaging the premises. Police booked both sides, identified around 20 persons for further investigation and registered a separate case against the management.

Hyderabad: Two groups clashed at a pub located in Jubilee Hills during the early hours of Sunday, following which the police registered suo motu cases against both sides involved in the incident.

According to police, a minor argument between two groups of youngsters escalated into a violent clash around 2 am at the pub. Nearly 150 youngsters were reportedly present at the venue when the situation turned chaotic. In the free-for-all, chairs, tables and liquor bottles were allegedly used, resulting in damage to glass panes, windows and the main glass doors of the pub.

Several customers, including women, panicked and rushed out of the premises to escape the violence. On information, the Jubilee Hills police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Based on a complaint made by Sub-Inspector Sandeep Reddy, cases were registered against both groups.

The police said they have identified around 20 persons, including the brother of a public representative, as being involved in the clash. The involvement of the suspects would be established based on CCTV footage from inside the pub and the parking area, and further action would be taken accordingly, officials said.

In another case, police registered a suo motu case against the management for allegedly operating beyond the permitted hours. The police are examining violations by the management and the role of those involved in the late-night incident.
