Kothagudem: Two persons were arrested in connection with a cheating case in the name of black magic under the limits of the three-town police station.
Inspector of Police (CI), D Venu Chander, in a statement here on Friday, said that the accused were identified as Kondapalli Sai Kumar and Inukonda Shiva of Rajanna Sircillla district.
A case under IPC Section 420 was booked against them following a complaint by a retired SCCL employee Merugu Shankar of Budidagadda area in Kothagudem. The accused collected an amount of Rs 9,600 from the complainant to perform black magic rituals and decamped with the money without performing any rituals.
In a similar manner, the duo had also cheated two others, S Sujatha from whom they collected Rs 11,000 and Ch Sulochana from whom they collected Rs. 3,000. A total amount of Rs 23,600 was recovered from the accused, the CI said.
