Hyderabad: The Abdullapurmet police on Saturday nabbed two persons on charges of illegally transporting and selling banned tobacco products at Kawadipally on the city outskirts. Police seized 80 bags of tobacco products, a truck and other material, altogether worth Rs 25 lakh. The arrested were identified as S Anil Kumar (36), a truck driver and D Subbana (40), a cleaner, both residents of Bidar in Karnataka. One person, Mohd Munawar Rahman Syed, was absconding. According to the police, following instructions from Syed, who runs a transport company in Hyderabad, the suspects went to RR Company in Bidar and loaded huge quantities of tobacco products in the lorry for sale in Hyderabad. They had reached Kawadipally near Abdullapurmet crossroads when the police nabbed them.
