Hyderabad: The Meerpet police caught two thieves involved in several attention diversion cases at Malakpet here on Saturday. Police seized 1,920 liters of cooking oil, 4 tons of rice, spices and pulses, all worth Rs 10.2 lakh from them.

The arrested persons were identified as Mohd Abdul Raheem alias Feroz (32), a resident of Chaderghat and T Sai Nanda Kishore alias Satya (35) from Old Malakpet.


According to the police, the suspects who are close friends and associates targeted the trucks loaded with food items and grocery stores and by diverting their attention, stole the material and fled the spot.

They were involved in cases in Punjagutta, Marredpally, Chilkalguda, Begumpet, Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills.
