Two men jailed for cheating woman in Hyderabad

Over several years, they transferred her shares and misused her accounts

Hyderabad: A local court on Thursday sentenced two men to six months simple imprisonment for cheating a woman in a case of impersonation which was booked at the Hyderabad Cybercrime police station in 2019.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them.

The arrested duo was identified as A Laxmi Deepak (32) from Warasiguda and R Sravan Kumar (33) from Tarnaka.

According to the police, the duo promised to help her retrieve unclaimed shares from her father’s account. While doing it, they also created a fake email ID in her name without her knowledge or consent.

Over several years, they transferred her shares and misused her accounts. The complainant only found out about the fraud in 2018. Based on her complaint, the Cybercrime police booked a case and arrested them.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand appreciated the efforts of the Cybercrime Team in securing conviction in the case.
