Rajanna-Sircilla: Two more Omicron cases have been reported at Gudem village in Mustabad mandal on Monday.

The villagers, who imposed a self-lockdown for a period of 10 days from December 23 with the report of one Omicron case, were a worried lot over the latest development. It may be recalled that a 28-year-old Gulf migrant from the village tested positive for Omicron on December 20. The youth, who migrated to Dubai, came back to his native village on December 16.

On his arrival, medical staff at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, collected his blood samples. On December 20, he tested positive for Omicron. His wife and mother had also tested positive for Covid on December 22, and their blood samples were sent for genome sequencing test. On Monday, the results revealed they were also infected by Omicron. On getting information from the higher officials, district officials shifted the two to TIMS hospital Hyderabad.

Confirming the report of two more Omicron cases, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Suman Mohan Rao said they shifted the two women to Hyderabad and sprayed sodium hypochlorite in the village.

Besides advising all primary contacts to be in-home isolation, people suffering with Covid symptoms were asked to undergo tests. They advised Sarpanch and village Panchayat officials to maintain cleanliness and spray sodium hypochlorite frequently, he said.
