Kothagudem: Two CPI (Maoist) Party area committee members (ACMs) of BK-ASR divisional committee surrendered to police here on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju informed that Cherla LOS commander, Sodi Pojji alias Chiluka and Manugur LGS commander, Madavi Somidi alias Ramya of Bhadradri Kothagudem-Alluri Sitaramaraju divisional committee (BK-ASR) were the surrendered naxals.


They both belong to Dokupadu under Kistaram police station limits in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh and were carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh each on their heads. Pojji joined Maoists in 2017 and worked as Chaitanya Natya Mandali commander for sometime while Somidi joined Maoists in 2019.

The ‘Operation Cheyutha’ programme of the district police has been yielding good results as several Maoists attracted to the programme surrendered to police voluntarily, the SP said. Additional SP (operations) T Sai Manohar was present.
