Peddapalli: Two millers were arrested on charges of defaulting on Custom Milling Rice (CMR) worth Rs 24.18 crore in Sultanabad. DCP Bhukya Ramreddy said Renikunta Madhu and Ravinder Reddy from Vallakunta were arrested on charges of diverting 6,662 metric tonnes of rice during the 2023-24 agricultural season. A case was registered against the two based on a complaint from Civil Supplies Corporation manager Srikanth. Investigations have been taken up.

A rice mill owned by them in Suglampalli was given 10,015 metric tonnes of paddy relating to 2023-24 for taking up the CMR process. However, the millers returned 1,577 metric tonnes to the government, defaulting on 6,662 metric tonnes. The value was assessed at Rs 24.18 crore.

On August 14, the Preventive Detention Act was invoked against miller Gampa Santhosh Kumar from Lingapur village in Dandepalli mandal of Mancherial district for allegedly defaulting on CMR worth Rs 15 crore and selling the same in the black market.
