Two shepherds drown in Manjeera River in Nizamabad
Two shepherds drowned in the Manjeera River in Nizamabad after getting trapped in quicksand while taking their sheep to water. Rescue attempts by locals failed, and one body was recovered while search operations continue for the other.
Nizamabad: Two shepherds accidentally drowned in the River Manjeera in Pothangal mandal on Sunday.
According to reports, Gangoda (40) had taken his flock of sheep to the river to quench their thirst. While leading the sheep into the water, he reportedly got trapped in quicksand.
Noticing his plight, his brother-in-law, Chinna Gangoda, jumped into the river in an attempt to rescue him. However, both men became trapped in the quicksand and drowned.
Hearing their cries for help, local residents rushed to the spot and tried to rescue them, but their efforts proved unsuccessful. One of the bodies was later retrieved, while search operations were continuing to trace the other body, reports said. More details are awaited.
