Hyderabad: Two teachers from Telangana have been selected for the National Awards to Teachers, 2021 by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education on Wednesday.
Rangaiah Kaderla, an acting head master of MPPS Sawarkheda, Kumram Bheem Asifabad district and Ramaswamy Payyavula, head teacher at ZP High School, Indiranagar, Siddipet (U) district, were the ones selected for the award this year.
Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Rangaiah said he reduced the drop outs particularly among the girl children and increased overall enrollments in the school from 50 to 280. “I enrolled my children in the same school where I teach. After completing primary school, my daughter moved to another school while my son is studying in the same school. When the school did not have enough teachers, my wife had taught the children in the school,” he said.
To ensure students do not lose out on academics during the Covid-19 pandemic, Rangaiah said he introduced the Super 100 programme where select students teach their peers and lower classes in the school.
Overall, 44 teachers from across the country were chosen for the National Awards which will be presented on Teachers’ Day on September 5.
