Hyderabad: Two tribal students, who studied in Telangana gurukul educational institutions, won accolades from everyone including Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod for securing seats in the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
Bhudawath Soni, a native of Nizamabad district, got seat in IIM Trichy, while Rathod Naresh from Sangareddy secured seat in IIM Visakhapatnam. Soni’s father is working as an auto-rickshaw driver while her mother is a daily wage worker. The parents of Naresh are working as daily wage labourers.
Both Soni and Naresh studied in Zilla Parishad School in their respective districts and pursued higher education in tribal gurukul educational institutions before securing seats in IIM.
Congratulating Soni and Naresh for getting seats in prestigious institutions, the Minister said the State government would give a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh and a laptop to them separately. The government would also bear the tuition and exam fee along with the mess charges, she said.
The Minister said training was imparted to the tribal students in CAT, GRE, TOEFL to prepare them to appear for competitive exams to get seats in reputed national and international educational institutions. As a result, two students got PhD seats in IIT and over 110 students got seats in other reputed educational institutions.
