Hyderabad: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all higher educational institutions to keep offline examinations in abeyance this May. These instructions were issued to Vice-Chancellors of the universities on Thursday in view of the Covid-19 pandemic across the country.
The exams have been kept in abeyance to avoid physical gathering on campuses and to provide relief to students, faculty and staff who were presently occupied in fighting Covid-19 one way or other.
The UGC, however, has asked higher educational institutions to decide on the conduct of online examinations after assessing local conditions and ensure that they were prepared in all respects following advisories, guidelines and directions issued by the Central and State governments, Ministry of Education or UGC to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Higher educational institutions might have a relook at the situation next month for taking an appropriate decision, the UGC said.
