UGC grants autonomy status to St. Peter’s Pharmacy College in Hanamkonda
St. Peter's Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPIPS), Hanamkonda, has been granted autonomous status by the UGC for five years starting from the 2025–26 academic year. The institution, the first private pharmacy college in Telangana, has also entered into academic partnerships with JSS University and Alabama University.

Hanamkonda: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted autonomous status to St. Peter’s Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPIPS) in Hanamkonda.
Kakatiya University Registrar Professor V Ramachandram handed over the order copy to the college chairman T Jaipal Reddy. The college was granted autonomous status for a period of five years from 2025-26 to 2030.
Speaking on the occasion, Jaipal Reddy said that St. Peter’s Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences established in 1995 was the first private pharmacy college in the State. It has been offering quality education and preparing students to serve in high positions in national and international industries.
SPIPS has already obtained NBA and NAAC certification. A large number of its students have qualified at the national level in GPAT and PGCET and are pursuing post-graduation studies in premier institutions like NIPER. The autonomous status granted to the college has brought new enthusiasm and increased the responsibility of offering the best education to students, Jaipal Reddy said.
Principal Dr. Rajshri Durke said the college has signed an agreement with JSS University, the top university in the country, for doctoral studies of students and an agreement with Alabama University in the US for international level MS studies. The college also signed agreements with about five industries to ensure industry exposure to the students.
KU assistant Registrar Pranay Kumar, SPIPS secretary Narayana Reddy and Head of theDepartment Dr. Praveen Devanand were present.
