Hanamkonda: A woman armed reserve constable allegedly died by suicide following harassment by one of her relatives and a classmate.
According to police, Anitha, a resident of Seethya thanda in Parvathagiri mandal of Warangal district, works as a constable in the Warangal police commissionerate’s AR division. One of her distant relatives, Rajender of Kommanapalli thanda in Thorrur mandal of Mahabubabad district had been telling her for four years that he would marry her.
But, he used to harass her telling her to make video calls while on duty and not to speak intimately with anyone else. Upset at Rajender’s behaviour, Anitha informed her parents, who told Rajender that they would not marry their daughter to him.
Meanwhile, Anitha developed a close relationship with her classmate, Jabbar Lal. When Rajender learned that she was planning to marry him, he called Jabbar and spoke ill of Anitha. As a result, Jabbar also started harassing Anitha, demanding money if she wanted to marry him.
Mentally distressed by the harassment from both of them, Anitha called Rajender on January 27 and complained that he and Jabbar had ruined her life and that she was going to commit suicide because of them. But Rajender responded carelessly.
Then, Anitha consumed pesticide to end her life. Noticing it her family members rushed Anitha to the hospital and she died while undergoing treatment. Based on the complaint filed by Anitha’s family members, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.
