Pallavi Model School, Bowenpally organised an assembly to mark International Migrants Day on December 18. Students of Grade XII took part in the virtual assembly. The day recognises the efforts, contributions and rights of migrants worldwide.
Students team comprising Naqiyah, Maatrika, Neha, and Pranati reflected on the ongoing plight and day-to-day crisis faced by migrants all around the world and how they work hard to feed their loved ones. The students highlighted the need to bring awareness to this global issue by providing information on human rights and migrants’ fundamental freedom.
Videos of migrants’ sharing their experiences were shared during the assembly. Students also spoke about the hardships migrants underwent in the Covid-trigged lockdown earlier this year.
The need of the hour is for more people to contribute in designing action plans to ensure their protection, to alert the general public with facts about migrants, problems with human trafficking, the lives of migrant workers’ children, the plight of refugees and ways to combat racism and terrorism, the students felt.
