HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old unidentified motorcyclist was killed after he was hit by the Secunderabad–Tirupati Vande Bharat Express on the railway tracks between Ghatkesar and Bibinagar stations near Aushapur on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 6.10 am when the Vande Bharat Express, heading towards Tirupati, struck the man from behind.

According to railway police, the man was sitting on his motorcycle and pushing it with his feet while travelling along the railway track near Aushapur, on the Bibinagar side. The speeding train hit him and dragged him for about 99 sleeper lengths before throwing him to the side of the track.

He suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. The motorcycle was completely mangled, with its parts scattered along nearly 300 metres of the railway track.

Police said no identification documents were found at the spot. The deceased was approximately 5.6 feet tall, had a dusky complexion and a birthmark on the right side of his chest.

The railway police registered a case and shifted the body to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for identification and postmortem examination.
