Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Bhagwanth Khuba on Wednesday expressed happiness with the progress made by Telangana especially in the areas of green hydrogen and waste to energy and biomass energy.
In his keynote address delivered at the Telangana solar industry stakeholder interaction jointly organised by Telangana Solar Energy Association (T-SEA) and National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) here, the Union Minister said that the Central and State governments should work together to realise India’s renewable energy goals.
The Minister further added that India was having an ambitious target in the clean energy sector to install 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 from its existing target of 175 GW by 2022. It is a matter of immense pride for the Indian power sector to have achieved the coveted milestone of 100 GW of installed renewable energy capacity.
While 100 GW of capacity has been installed and operationalised, 50 GW of additional capacity is under installation and another 27 GW is under tendering process. Presently, India stands at fourth position in the world in terms of installed renewable energy capacity, fifth in solar and fourth in wind energy capacity.
He said the present status of renewable energy in Telangana with the total installed capacity of 4398 MW shows that the State was developing and going to achieve its targets on time. He also mentioned that the government was pushing for solar PV pumps in the State, along with new technologies such as Agro-PV, floating solar and green hydrogen.
The Minister appreciated the T-SEA for organising the interactive session.
