University of Hyderabad professor elected as fellow member of USA’s Optica

Hyderabad: Prof. Venugopal Rao Soma, a distinguished physicist from the University of Hyderabad, has been elected a fellow member of Optica (formerly Optical Society of America, USA).

This recognition honours his outstanding contributions to ultrafast spectroscopy and nonlinear optics (NLO) studies, femtosecond ablation, and explosives detection techniques.

Prof. Soma is an expert in optics, photonics, and ultrafast spectroscopy. With over three decades of academic and research experience, he supervised 15 PhD students and mentored over 100 scholars.

His research output includes one book, 17 chapters, over 460 journal articles and over 12,490 citations.
