Suryapet: The police are allowing the ambulances shifting corona patients to Hyderabad at Ramapuram on Telangana-Andhra Pradesh State borders only if they the patients had the certificate issued by the private hospital confirming the bed to them.
According to the sources, the police got oral instructions from the higher officials not to allow ambulances of Covid-19 patients freely as earlier. In the wake shortage of beds for the patients in the private hospitals at Hyderabad, the government authorities have reportedly decided to control the flow of Corona patients to Hyderabad from neighbouring States especially Andhra Pradesh.
Accordingly, the officials are allowing the ambulances of the Corona patients to Hyderabad from Andhra Pradesh only if the hospital confirmed availability of beds to the patients. The patients should show any proof or approval on the confirmation of bed by the hospital.
Without knowing the status of the beds availability in hospitals of Hyderabad, the Covid-19 patients reaching the private hospitals and their family members are picking up arguments with the staff of private hospitals for beds, which was creating unnecessary issues at the hospitals.
After getting the oral instructions, Kodad police reached the AP-TS state border at Ramapuram cross roads in huge number and are implementing unofficial restrictions on the ambulances of Covid-19 patients from 9 am on Monday.
Several ambulances on their way to Hyderabad, were forced to return from 9 am when the police did not allow them into the state for not having certificates from the hospitals confirming beds to the patients.
