Nizamabad: The unseasonal rains, which have been lashing a few parts of the State since the last couple of days, have left many standing and harvested crops withered, soaked and damaged in different areas.

Farmers are complaining about suffering heavy losses due to the crop damages.

In Nizamabad, farmers in Banswada and Bodhan constituencies are taking up paddy harvesting on a large scale. However, as the farmers are drying the harvested stocks on the roadsides and on drying platforms, the unseasonal rains have left the majority of the stocks soaked and damaged, according to reports.

Farmers in Kotagiri, Pothangal, Bodhan, Yedapally, Darpally and Sirikonda mandals are complaining about crop losses due to the rains.

Turmeric farmers, who brought in their stocks to the agriculture market yard in the town for procurement, are in distress.

Due to last night’s rains, the turmeric stocks got soaked, leaving the farmers in heavy losses. Images and videos of turmeric stocks covered under sheets of water are being shared in different social media.
