Hyderabad: In a significant development for India’s higher education and deep-tech research sectors, the University of Hyderabad and Indian Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad entered into an MoU to promote collaboration among the diverse academic units and specialised research groups of both institutions.

The MoU enables reciprocal access to specialised laboratories, high-performance computing (HPC) clusters and library repositories between UoH and IIIT-H. The agreement was signed in the presence of UoH Vice Chancellor in-charge Prof J Anuradha and IIIT-Hyderabad Director Prof Sandeep K Shukla.

By combining each institute’s unique core competence, state-of-the-art facilities and expertise in mutually exclusive yet closely interrelated fields, this tie-up will enhance the institutional synergy required to achieve common academic goals and meet crucial national priorities, the UoH said.

In terms of academic restructuring, the MoU enables active co-teaching, interdisciplinary research and the joint supervision of postgraduate, including MTech, and PhD scholars, fully operating within the established framework of applicable AICTE and UGC regulations, it said.

Further, the MoU formally envisions offering collaborative and joint degrees in highly specialised areas such as VLSI and semiconductor technologies.
