Nalgonda: Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday asked the railway officials to upgrade the facilities at Miryalaguda railway station for the convenience of passengers.
Along with the officials of South Central Railways, he inspected the railway station of Miryalaguda and the railway underpass at Thipparthi in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the roof of Miryalaguda railway station was leaking during rains and needs urgent repair. Bogie indicator lights were also not working at the station. All main trains must stop on platform No 1 and not on platform No 2 as it is being repaired now.
Approach to platform No. 2 is difficult for ladies, aged and disabled, he added.
He said that toilets and drinking water facilities should be provided for hamalies of FCI, who would load paddy into goods trains. The approach road to the railway station via Ravindranagar is in bad shape and there was a dire need to repair it immediately, he stressed.
He said that he would bring the issues to the notice of higher officials of South Central Railways and get them addressed.
Lower level Railway staff brought to the notice of Uttam Kumar Reddy that their quarters were in dilapidated condition and also facing water problem.
