Medak: Urea shortage issues have continued to haunt the farmers of erstwhile Medak district. While the district administration was making statements time and again about the availability of urea at their stock points, the farmers’ struggles were telling a different story.

Farmers were seen keeping their chappals in a queue at Agros Seva Centre in Chinna Shankarampet mandal to collect their bags after booking them online. However, many farmers could not book the bags online even after hours of effort. When they reached the Agros Seva Centres to inquire about the issues on Tuesday, the staff said there was some technical glitch in the server.

Since paddy transplantation was under way in the area, the farmers had a tough time finding urea bags. At Narsingi mandal headquarters, the farmers picked up an argument with the fertiliser shop owner as he had not displayed a no-stock board even after the farmers were allowed to book.

They demanded that the shop owner issue the bags already booked online. Unable to control them, the shop owner called the police. When the police led by Inspector Saida Nayak visited the place, they convinced the farmers.
