Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has used technology platforms to make decisions related to announcing relaxations during the lockdown. The inputs coming on it suggested that IT parks and industrial areas are not at the risk of turning Covid hotspots, said IT and Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan.

Participating in a session `Telangana 2.0: Success Stories and Beyond Covid’ as part of the CII Partnership Summit 2020, he said the many suggested that opening up the work areas was fraught with risk. “If anything were to happen, we would have been held responsible of putting people’s health at risk. However, we relied on technology to take the decision and now we can say it ensured that economy did not take a further hit,” he said.

Many industries have faced problem after the migrant labour left. Telangana was among the few States that considered the migrant labour as partners in the State development. About 90 per cent of the labour have returned now, he said adding the State has also used rapid testing kits developed by a city-based startup. This ensured in Telangana taking up large scale testing, the official said.

Citing another instance of collaboration, various players have come together to make a ventilator under the aegis of T-Works. They have managed to cut the cost to about Rs 50,000, which is about a tenth of those available in the market. The functionalities of T-Works ventilator are comparable.
The State also used a home-grown app to monitor those in home quarantine, he said.

Rudra Jadeja, CEO, Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems, said it started a manufacturing line to make N-99 masks adopting the technology of DRDO. It is the manufacturing licence holder to make ventilators. “TS has been proactive in Covid management. The Government identified the emergency sectors and gave passes for movement during the lockdown even before the industries asked for them,” he said.
