Hyderabad: The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) has announced the opening of its annual competition for Fulbright-Nehru and other Fulbright fellowships. Funded by the US Department of State and India’s Ministry of External Affairs, such exchanges have helped bring the people of India and the US closer through opportunities that enrich fellows’ academic, research, teaching, and professional capacity. Outstanding Indian students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals of all backgrounds – especially women – are encouraged to apply.
This year, the Fulbright programme participants, partners, and friends celebrate the 75th anniversary of the US government’s worldwide Fulbright programme and its mission to forge lasting connections, counter misunderstandings, and help people and nations work together toward common goals.
Dr Sai Prathima, Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2018-2019 from Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) Hyderabad shared her experience about the huge impact of her Fulbright grant. “Fulbright gave me lot of things in my life that have been extremely useful to me to become a successful researcher,” she said. “The year that I spent at the University of Texas at Austin during the Fulbright grant provided me an opportunity to meet a Nobel Laureate. Fulbright fellowships are very competitive, and I am happy to be a part of the Fulbright-Nehru alumni network!”
USIEF is now accepting applications from Indian citizens for the 2022-23 academic year. Selection committees comprising American and Indian subject-matter experts and Fulbright alumni award these fellowships in a variety of disciplines across arts, humanities, social sciences and STEM fields. More details are available on www.usief.org.in.
