Hyderabad: A meeting of Vice-Chancellors and higher education officials on Wednesday stressed the need for universities to utilise the services of the alumni for the all-round development of the campuses and for the benefit of students. The varsities were also asked to expedite the networking and registration of all their alumni.
The virtual meeting was convened by Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) Chairman Prof R Limbadri and TSCHE Vice Chairman Prof. V Venkata Ramana with the Vice-Chancellors, registrars and alumni nodal officers of universities in the State to strengthen the alumni relations.
During the meeting, officials have been asked to encourage alumni to register with ‘Chancellor Connects Alumni’, hosted on Raj Bhavan, the Telangana website. Discussions were held for the creation of a separate wing headed by a professor for contacting alumni of the University for compiling an alumni database.
Discussions were also held on the steps to be initiated by the universities for enabling old students to extend their assistance for digitization of libraries, labs and infrastructure development, serving as guest faculty or supporting seminars/conferences.
Prof Limbadri said shortly a joint meeting with all university nodal officers along with the technical support team of the NIC and Chancellor Office would be organized by the TSCHE to further strengthen the relations with alumni of different universities.
Prof Ramana informed that a newsletter was being planned shortly to highlight various initiatives of Telangana universities alumni activities.
