Uttam directs irrigation officials to pump water into Ranganayaka Sagar

The Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has directed officials to release water from Annapurna reservoir to Ranganayaka Sagar following a request from former minister T Harish Rao.

Siddipet: Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy directed the irrigation officials to lift water from Annapurna reservoir to Ranganayaka Sagar, responding to a letter written by former Minister T Harish Rao.

Rao demanded the State government to pump 1.5 TMCft of water from Annapurna reservoir to Ranganayaka Sagar to meet the Yasangi needs of ayacut under the project. Rao said that the farmers had cultivated paddy in 50,000 acres under the project.

Since Ranganayaka Sagar contained only one TMCft of water against its full capacity of 3 TMCft of water, Rao asked the government to pump an additional 1.5 TMCft of water.
