Uttar Pradesh man gets 7 years RI in 2022 Adilabad hit-and-run case
A UP-based lorry driver was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment by an Adilabad court for causing the death of a man in a drunken driving incident in 2022. The court relied on eyewitness accounts and evidence to convict him.

Adilabad: A local court here on Tuesday sentenced a lorry driver from Uttar Pradesh to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for causing the death of a man in a drunken driving incident three years ago.
Senior civil judge M Rajyalaxmi delivered the verdict, holding Balvinder Singh guilty of causing the death of Senagarapu Ravi (43), a resident of Balapur village in Jainath mandal.
Singh had driven a lorry in a rash and negligent manner under the influence of alcohol on August 5, 2022, fatally injuring Ravi, who succumbed to injuries while being shifted to RIMS–Adilabad.
The court examined 15 eyewitnesses and other material evidence before delivering the judgment.
The case was registered by then Jainath Sub-Inspector Persis B, who filed the charge-sheet establishing Singh’s role in the fatal accident.
