Hyderabad: The administration of Covid-19 vaccine for people over 18 years of age is underway at 100 locations in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. On an average, 48,000 people are being administered with the free jab every day in these centres. Scores of people were seen thronging these centres on Friday. The vaccination process, which started at around 8.30 am, continued till 4 pm at many centres.

These centres were taking measures to avoid vaccine wastage, and people were categorised into groups with each group consisting of 10 people. “With one bottle of vaccine, we can inoculate 10 people and we are vaccinating people in groups to ensure zero wastage,” said a staffer at Masjid Banda Community Hall in Kondapur. He said the response from people was very good till evening.

Elaborate arrangements while following the prescribed protocols for the administration of the vaccine were in place at the centres. The vaccination centres were partitioned into three segments- a registration desk, vaccination counter and a waiting area.

Hand sanitisers, circles to maintain social distancing, seating arrangements as per Covid norms and pasting Covid-19 guidelines on walls were some of the arrangements at the centres. Computer operators have been hired to ensure smooth functioning at the centres, and they were seen entering the details and making a list of beneficiaries.

The staff and Asha workers guided the beneficiaries on the process involved and explained the medicines that need to be taken in case of fever. Only the ones who have registered in the CoWIN app were allowed inside the centre.
