Hyderabad: The Transport Department services across the State came to a halt on Thursday for a few hours, allegedly due to a major technical glitch in the Vahan and Sarathi central servers.
In Rangareddy district, particularly at the Manikonda RTA Office, citizens were seen struggling for hours as essential services remained inaccessible.
Long queues formed at transport offices across various districts and the twin cities, with vehicle owners arriving early in the morning for services such as driving licences, vehicle registration, transfers and permits. However, the non-functional central server left both officials and citizens helpless.
Transport department officers said they were unable to provide any clear information and attributed the issue to a Delhi-level technical failure, leaving applicants frustrated.
“The systems suddenly halted for some time and we had issues with the daily activity. There was a major technical glitch in the Vahan and Sarathi central servers based in Delhi. However, we have immediately taken it to the notice of the authorities concerned, who rectified it. The matter was taken up with higher authorities too,” said a senior transport official from RTA, Khairatabad.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar held discussions with Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Transport Commissioner Ilambarathi and senior officials regarding the Sarathi technical problems. Officials briefed the minister that the issue originated at the central server in Delhi and assured that services would resume normally. The Minister said that the disruption was temporary.
