Vande Bharat Express trains major hit in SCR zone as all routes run fully packed

Such has been the patronage of these newly-designed and more equipped services that all the Vande Bharat Express services originating and terminating from city railway stations have been consistently logging in a high patronage of 100 per cent and above.

Hyderabad: Having caught the attention of passengers, the Vande Bharat Express trains introduced in the South Central Railway (SCR) zone have been successful and running packed in all the routes they are operated.

In fact, such has been the patronage of these newly designed and more equipped services that all the Vande Bharat Express services originating and terminating from city railway stations have been consistently logging in a high patronage of 100 per cent and above.

The Vande Bharat Express connectivity with Hyderabad is on the routes of Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam, Secunderabad – Tirupati, Kacheguda – Yesvantpur (Bengaluru) and Secunderabad – Nagpur. The recent data on the Vande Bharat occupancy shows these services to recording high patronage that even went up to 143 per cent.

The South Central Railway officials said Vande Bharat occupancy reflected the enormous popularity of India’s semi-high speed train introduced in various routes.

The Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express has been consistently operating with more than 100 per cent occupancy and subsequently recorded 134 per cent occupancy ratio. Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express recorded highest of 143 per cent occupancy ratio.

According to the railway authorities, the Vande Bharat train services have been well patronised with the average occupancy being 103 per cent in FY 2024-25. These services provide extremely comfortable and air travel like experience to the people and that is one of the key reasons for their popularity, SCR officials said.

“Since introduction, more and more people appear to prefer travel by Vande Bharat Express and the service has become synonymous with development, modernity, stability and self-reliance,” an official said.

Considering the popularity of Vande Bharat among railway passengers, preparations are underway to introduce Vande Bharat sleeper trains.

VB Express trains operating in SCR zone:

*Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam

*Secunderabad – Tirupati

*Kacheguda – Yesvantpur

* Secunderabad – Nagpur.
