Hyderabad: Vedakumar Manikonda, an urban and regional planner and dedicated heritage conservationist, has been re-elected for the fourth consecutive term as a Governing Council Member of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), New Delhi, for a period of three years.
He secured the highest number of votes in the history of INTACH, reflecting his unwavering commitment, credibility, and distinguished service in the field of heritage conservation. With over four decades of rich experience, he has been at the forefront of advocating the identification, protection, and conservation of monuments, historic buildings, and cultural as well as natural landscapes.
He has travelled extensively across several countries, studying historic cities and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and has participated in international heritage conferences and forums.
He also played a significant role, in collaboration with the Department of Heritage Telangana, in securing the inclusion of the Mudumal Megalithic Menhirs in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, bringing global recognition to this remarkable prehistoric site.
