Hyderabad: It’s been 15 years since Vedam hit the big screen, and the film’s impact is still being celebrated by fans and its team. Released on June 4, 2010, Vedam brought together stars like Allu Arjun, Anushka Shetty, and Manchu Manoj in a rare multi-starrer format. Directed by Krish, the film set a new trend in Telugu cinema with its hyperlink storytelling and realistic characters.
As the film completed 15 years on Wenesday, June 4, 2025, director Krish shared a wild memory from the film’s promotional days. “We had put up a huge hoarding of Anushka in a bold pose at Punjagutta circle. It became so popular that it actually caused over 40 road accidents” said Krish in an interview, recalling how the poster had to be taken down after police complaints flooded in. “That’s how powerful Anushka’s screen presence was,” he added.
Anushka Shetty played the role of Saroja, a sex worker, in Vedam, and her performance was praised for being honest and powerful. The bold character, combined with Anushka’s realistic acting, made Saroja one of the most remembered roles in her career. What stood out even more was how she played the role without facing any backlash. Instead, the audience appreciated how beautifully the character was written and performed.
Vedam was rated A, but it became a favourite for people of all age groups. The film gave strong life lessons and showed how cinema can be both entertaining and meaningful. Each character in the film had depth, and their stories left a strong message. This masterpiece also gained national recognition and is still seen as a landmark film in Telugu cinema.
